Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, CA 95205-3163
BUILDING PERMIT FOR WASTEWATER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS, WOODBRIDGE
WINERY, SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
On 20 December 2006 Regional Water Board staff met with representatives from Woodbridge
Winery (Discharger) to discuss the wastewater treatment system at Woodbridge Winery, 5950
East Woodbridge Road, Acampo. The Discharger is proposing to install new treatment
equipment and informed staff that the County Building Department sought approval from the
Regional Water Board before issuing permits for new wastewater equipment. The project
schedule includes initiating construction in March 2007.
We have no objection to the issuance of building permits for the additional wastewater
treatment equipment. However, as was discussed in the 20 December 2006 meeting with the
Discharger (meeting summary attached), the proposed treatment equipment is only part of the
Discharger's phased approach to address wastewater issues. The proposed treatment
equipment will reduce biochemical oxygen demand but will provide little treatment of Fixed
Dissolved Solids (FDS). Because groundwater at the facility is impacted with FDS, and the
Discharger has exceeded the flow limit in Waste Discharge Requirements Order No. 87-184,
staff has begun preparation of a Cease and Desist Order.
If you have any questions on the information in this letter, please contact me at (916)
464-4732.
MARK .
