Limited Site Investigation Irerracon
Proposed Love's Travel Stop a Lodi, California
April 15, 2011 ■ Terracon Project No. 60117009
3.0 LABORATORY ANALYTICAL METHODS
The soil and groundwater samples collected from the borings were analyzed for BTEX, MTBE
by United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Method 8260B, and for TPH by EPA
Method 8015M. In addition, one field blank was prepared and analyzed for BTEX and MTBE by
EPA Method 8260B for quality control (QC) purposes.
Laboratory soil and groundwater results are summarized in Tables 1 and 2, respectively, and
included in Appendix C. The laboratory data sheets and executed chain-of-custody form are
provided in Appendix D.
4.0 DATA EVALUATION
4.1 Soil Samples
The soil samples collected from borings B-1 OA, B-11A, and B-1 2A did not exhibit BTEX, MTBE,
and TPH concentrations above the laboratory method reporting limits. A summary of the results
are presented in Table 1 of Appendix C.
The site is located within the jurisdiction of the San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department, Region 5 of the Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) - Central Valley
Region, and EPA Region 9. Applicable screening levels for soil concentrations for BTEX,
MTBE, and TPH have not been established by either of these regions. After discussions with
Mr. Clay Rogers from RWQCB from the Central Valley Region, Terracon was advised to
compare the results of the soil investigation to Region 4 of the RWQCB — Los Angeles Region,
maximum screening levels (MSLs). The soil samples obtained during this LSI, reported
laboratory detection limits below applicable MSI-s.
4.2 Groundwater Samples
The groundwater samples collected from borings B-10A (TSP-10A), B-11A (TSP-11A), and B-
12A (TSP-12A) did not exhibit BTEX, MTBE, and TPH concentrations above the laboratory
method reporting limits, except for TPH diesel range (TPH DRO) for TSP-10A reported at a low
concentration of 0.229 milligrams per liter (mg/L). A summary of the results are presented in
Table 2 of Appendix C.
In accordance with the Basin Plan for the Sacramento River and San Joaquin River Basins,
dated September 15, 1998, the beneficial use for groundwater in Lodi has been designated for
Municipal and Domestic supply, agricultural supply, industrial service supply, and groundwater
recharge supply. Therefore, the water quality parameters were compared to California
Department of Public Health (CDPH) primary maximum contamination levels (MCLs) drinking
Reliable ■ Responsive■ Convenient■ Innovative 5
I*
