E. Prevention of Cross Contamination: Describe the techniques used to prevent the <br /> contamination of instruments,tattoo machines,trays,tables, chairs, clip cords, power <br /> supplies, squeeze bottles, inks, pigments, lamps, stools, soaps, procedure sites and additional <br /> areas of potential contamination during body art procedures. Include barriers provided to <br /> prevent cross contamination. Describe how procedure sites are prepared for a body art <br /> procedures. (California health and Safety Code 119308,119309, and 119311 (c)(d)(e)(f)). <br /> 1) always properly wash hands with soap and warm water for 20 secs before beginning <br /> procedure. <br /> 2) always dry hands throughly and wear gloves and PPE (gloves, apron and mask) <br /> 3) properly prepare the skin for the procedure brows are wiped down with single use alcohol <br /> wipes. <br /> 4)at any time if the technician needs to get more numbing cream or ink, always use new gloves <br /> when reaching for any items. <br /> 5)all items that are not single use must be covered in nonabsorbent material <br /> 6) at any time during procedure if the technician needs to get up and refill on new items, put on <br /> new gloves. <br /> Sharps Containers: Describe the procedures used for the safe handling of sharps and indicate <br /> the location of the in-use sharps containers. Indicate disposal frequency for sharps waste <br /> (California health and Safety Code 119314 (e)). <br /> • sharps containers are located near the sink <br /> • with gloves on push the tray close to the sharps container, never walk with needles or <br /> blades in hand. gently place needles and blades into sharps container and drop in. <br /> replace sharps container every 60 days or when sharps container is full. <br /> Sharps Disposal: Describe the disposal of sharps used during a body art procedure (California <br /> Health and Safety Code 119308 (b)(3) and 119311 (g)). <br /> 1. Needles and needle bars: <br /> with gloves on push the tray close to the sharps container, never walk with needles in hand. <br /> gently place needles into sharps container and drop in <br />
