BODY ART FACILITY <br /> INFECTION PREVENTION AND CONTROL PLAN <br /> Operation Procedures <br /> This policy was written to comply with t the requirements of the California Safe Body Art Act <br /> Section 119313. Infection Prevention and Control Plan. <br /> 1. Sanitation <br /> A) Before working on each client, hands of the artist shall be thoroughly washed and <br /> dried using sound hygienic practices, prior to beginning work on each person or <br /> when interrupted in the process. <br /> B) Disposable, unused examination gloves shall be worn on both hands during the <br /> body art process. Gloves shall be changed and disposed of into a line trash <br /> container each time gloves come into contact with an object or surface other than <br /> the clients prepared kin or material to be used for the procedure,when the gloves <br /> become torn or punctured, or whenever their ability to function as a barrier is <br /> compromised. <br /> C) Each artist shall wear use a clean apron, bib, or lap pad over clean, dry clothing. <br /> D) Artists who are experiencing symptoms of diarrhea, vomiting, fever, rash, <br /> productive cough,jaundice, or draining (or open)skin infections, boils impetigo or <br /> scabies shall refrain from body art activities. <br /> E) Only single use, disposable razor's shall be used to shave the area to be <br /> tattooed. The disposable razor will be disposed razors shall be used to shave <br /> the area to be tattooed. The disposable razor will be disposed of to the sharps <br /> container after use. <br /> F) Before placing the design on the patron's skin, the tattoo artist shall treat the skin <br /> area with an antibacterial solution. Skin surfaces will be treated with alcohol <br /> wipes. <br /> G) Only commercially manufactured inks, dyes, and pigments shall be used. This <br /> facility uses predominately the following inks/dyes or pigments: face inks, <br /> biotouch, micro-pigment color, doreme, kp pigment, permablend <br /> H) If a paper stencil is used by a tattoo artist for transferring the design to the skin. <br /> It shall be single use and disposable <br /> 1) If the design is drawn directly onto the skin, it shall be applied with a single use <br /> article only. <br /> J) Cabinets for the storage of instruments, dyes, pigments, single use articles, shall <br /> be provided for each artist and shall be maintained in a sanitary manner, which <br /> protects the instruments from contamination. <br /> K) Needles needle bars, grommets, and razors shall be discarded into the sharps <br /> waste container immediately upon completion of the procedure. <br /> Q The surface of all work tables and chairs or benches shall be constructed of <br /> material which is smooth, nonabsorbent, and easily decontaminated. <br />
