Storage: Describe the storage location and equipment used for the storage of clean and sterilized
instrument peel packs to protect the packages from exposure to dust and moisture.
1. Instrument peel packs are stored in plastic containers with closable lids to protect the peel packs
from exposure to dust and moisture. These plastic containers are kept in each work station.
D. Set Up and Tear Down of Workstation: Describe the procedure for setting up and tearing down the
workstation for the following procedures.
1. Tattoo: First the workstation is decontaminated by spraying a cide on all surfaces that will be used
during the tattoo. The cide is allowed to soak for 3-5 minutes before being wiped down. Any and all
surfaces that are touched by bare open skin(arm rests, head rests, chairs, tables and stools) are covered
with a 2 ply dental bib and then an additional layer of cling wrap is placed over the dental bib. The same
covering is applied to trays and countertops. If a customer lays on a massage table and their bare skin is
exposed to that massage table, it is covered with a stretcher sheet. After the trays and countertops that
are going to be used are covered, the tattoo machines, tubes, inks, needle bars and anything else used in
the procedure is placed on top of the trays and countertops. After the procedure is finished all of the
items on the trays or countertops (except machines and reusable items) are thrown away. The areas that
were used during the procedure and/or touched by open skin are again sprayed down with a cide and
allowed to soak for 3-5 minutes before being wiped down.
2. Piercing: : First the workstation is decontaminated by spraying a cide on all surfaces that will be
used during the piercing. The cide is allowed to soak for 3-5 minutes before being wiped down. After the procedure is finished all of the items on the trays or countertops
(except istruments and reusable items) are thrown away. The areas that were used during the procedure
and/or touched by open skin are again sprayed down with a cide and allowed to soak for 3-5 minutes
before being wiped down.
3. All items
mentioned in the above paragraph except inks and pigments are covered with a new protective barrier
before each tattoo or piercing to prevent cross contamination. Each barrier is removed and the procedure
site is sprayed with a cide and allowed to soak for 3-5 minutes before being wiped down. Each
procedure room has its own garbage can and all waste created in that procedure room goes in its own
garbage can. Inks and Pigments are kept in separate closed containers in each procedure area and not
exposed to open environments.
