All affiliates manage hazardous materials and waste from receipt (or generation) through final use or disposal. The goal of this program is to reduce exposure risks through employee awareness and competence. It should be noted that the non-RCRA waste may also be known by the term "California Only". POLICY It is the policy of Sutter Valley Area to comply with all Federal, state and local regulations. To accomplish this the Hazardous Materials and Waste Management Program has been developed to comply with Federal standards, laws and regulations of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Department of Transportation (DOT), and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) as well as any other laws and regulations required under Cal/OSHA, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) and The Joint Commission (TJC) Management of the Environment of Care Standards. The goals of this program are to: 1. Reduce the risk of employee exposure by providing appropriate training, equipment, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to manage the handling of hazardous materials and wastes; 2. Reduce the risk of contamination of the internal environment by providing appropriate space and equipment for the storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous materials and wastes; 3. Reduce the risk of exposure for patients and members of the public by providing appropriate staff training and equipment to manage the handling of hazardous materials; 4. Reduce the risk of environmental contamination by managing the packing, labeling, hauling, and disposal Of hazardous wastes in accordance with applicable laws and regulations; and 5. Reduce the risk of exposure for staff, patients and members of the public by appropriately selecting the least hazardous chemical to effectively perform the task required. 6.
