0 <br />April 10, 2014 <br />Mr. Harprit Mattu <br />San Joaquin County <br />Environmental Healht Department <br />1868 East Hazelton Avenue <br />Stockton, California, 95205-6232 <br />Dear Mr. Mattu, <br />• <br />California Health Care Facility was surveyed by the department for compliance with <br />the Medical Waste Management Act. Corrective actions have been made and are as <br />indicated below. <br />1. §118307 —The Soiled Utility room inside the Dental Clinic did not have a <br />biohazard label on the entrance door. All access points to interim storage areas <br />must have biohazard labels. Label doors immediately. <br />Appropriate labels have been placed on all access points to the interim storage <br />areas in the Dental Clinic. Compliance with this measure will be incorporated into <br />14 the facility's Continuous Quality Improvement Program through the performance <br />of random monthly audits. <br />2. §118305 —Throughout the Dental Clinic there were containers with biohazard <br />labels being used to collect solid waste. Solid waste can be stored in a container <br />previously used for medical waste, but only after the container has been properly <br />decontaminated and all the medical waste labels have been removed. Remove <br />biohazard labels from the solid waste containers immediately. <br />The medical waste label was immediately removed from the solid waste container in <br />the Dental Clinic. Compliance with this measure will be incorporated into the <br />facility's Continuous Quality Improvement Program through the performance of <br />random monthly audits. <br />3. §118285(b) — In building 113 of the A yard, a full sharps container inside of the <br />med room did not have a lid on it. Sharps containers must have a tight fitting lid <br />and/or be taped closed to preclude loss of contents and tampering. Close container <br />immediately and submit evidence of compliance by 4/10/14. <br />The sharps container inside of the med room in building 1B ofA yard was <br />immediately secured with a tightfitting lid. Compliance with this measure will be <br />incorporated into the facility's Continuous Quality Improvement Program through <br />the performance of random monthly audits. <br />CALIFORNIA CORRECTIONAL I P.O.
