Sharps containers must be labeled with the words <br />sharps waste or with the international biohazard symbol and the word <br />"BIOHAZARD." Label containers immediately. <br />Sharps containers throughout the facility have been properly labeled according to <br />this requirement Compliance with this measure will be incorporated into the <br />facility's Continuous Quality Improvement Program through the performance of <br />random monthly audits. <br />5. §118280—A biohazardous waste container inside of the Soiled Utility room of <br />the Dental Clinic was not labeled. Biohazardous waste containers shall be labeled <br />with the words "Biohazardous Waste" or with the international biohazard symbol <br />and the word "BIOHAZARD" on the lid and on the sides, so as to be visible from any <br />lateral direction. Label the container immediately. <br />All biohazardous waste containers inside of the Soiled Utility room of the Dental <br />14 Clinic were labeled appropriately according to this standard. Compliance with this <br />measure will be incorporated into the facility's Continuous Quality Improvement <br />Program through the performance of random monthly audits. <br />6. §118275(a) — Pharmaceutical waste is not being segregated from the point of <br />origin and is being delivered to the Pharmacy where it is being stored in bags before <br />being segregated by hand. Medical waste must be segregated from the point of <br />origin and be placed in the proper containers. This facility must create and <br />implement a plan to ensure that pharmaceutical waste is segregated at the point of <br />origin. <br />The CHCF Medical Waste Management Plan has been updated to reflect that <br />pharmaceutical waste shall be segregated at the point of origin. All outdated, <br />contaminated, mislabeled or otherwise non -usable medications are to be placed in <br />containers labeled in such a manner so as to clearly distinguish them from all other <br />waste categories. These containers shall be maintained at points of origin on <br />housing units and other designated areas.
