:7 <br />Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan "k` eJ° <br />living centers <br />Standard (Universal) Precautions, continued <br />Dishes No special precautions are necessary for dishes unless visibly contaminated <br />with infective material (blood, drainage, secretions, etc.) If contaminated, <br />bag and label before returning to the designated area. <br />Linens Linens contaminated with blood/body fluids must: <br />• Be single -bagged at the location where used <br />• Not be sorted or rinsed in patient/resident area <br />• Be transported in bags or containers that are leak -proof <br />• Be handled in a way that prevents contamination of clothing <br />Note: Pillows and mattresses are to be cleaned by wiping with a <br />disinfectant detergent. <br />Bagging Used articles to be removed from the room of a suspected or confirmed <br />articles contaminated environment are to be: <br />• Enclosed in a non -permeable (impervious) bag before removing <br />from room <br />• Single -bagged if: <br />o the bag is impervious and sturdy, and <br />o the article can be placed in the bag without contamination <br />of the outside of the bag <br />• Placed in bags that are labeled appropriately <br />• Disposed of according to local regulations <br />If it is reusable equipment, it should be bagged, labeled and removed <br />as indicated above until decontaminated, cleaned or sterilized. <br />Urine Urine and feces must handled as follows: <br />and feces <br />• Urine and feces must be flushed directly down the toilet. <br />• Bedpans, urinals and emesis basins are to be washed with antimicrobial <br />soap and water and returned to the same patient/resident. <br />Dressings All dressings, paper tissues and other disposable items soiled with <br />and tissues infective material are to be bagged and disposed of in accordance with <br />medical waste regulations. <br />Prohibited Eating, drinking, applying cosmeticsor balm, and handling contact lenses <br />personal- prohibited f #d of <br />occupational <br />Safety & Loss infection Control Policy and Procedure Manual <br />Control Department Of 2007 Golden Living (Revised October 2011) Page 13 of 51 <br />
