The linen is returned to the units in a covered container and placed in the
linen storage area.
HANDLING OF ISOLATION LINEN:
The linen referred to as "Isolation Linen" requires an awareness on the part
of all personnel involved in collection, transporting and sorting. It must
be identified until it arrives at the laundry.
Identifying bags constructed of a water soluble plastic will be used so that
once the contaminated linen is sealed, it will not be necessary to open it
until it is inside the washer.
With the double bag method, the outer bag is removed before placing the inner
water soluble bag and linen in the washer. Be sure not to touch the inner
bag. The outer bag is discarded in the contaminated waste.
(See end of this section for detailed procedure).
VISITORS
There shall be no visitors in the laundry unless authorized by the Administrator.
HOUSEKEEPING
1. Laundry floors will be damp -mopped with a germicidal detergent daily.
2. All trash containers will be emptied on a daily basis.
3. The entire laundry area will be thoroughly cleaned weekly, including
mopping of all floor areas with a disinfectant solution.
4. All residue will be removed from in -laundry carts and/or baskets and
they will be cleaned weekly with a germicidal detergent.
IF APPLICABLE
Laundry chute: The laundry chute will be cleaned and disinfected monthly.
