0 <br />13. Housekeeping <br />r <br />a. This facility will maintain enough housekeeping personnel, <br />equipment and materials to ensure the environment remains <br />safe, sanitary and without the spread of infection. <br />b. The housekeeping department will provide its employees <br />with ongoing training programs in infection control. <br />14. Laundry <br />a. The goal of the laundry department is providing residents <br />with linens that are microbiologically and chemically <br />safe. <br />b. Employees will be provided with written guidelines for all <br />laundry processes. <br />C. Washing, ironing, tumbling dry, etc. will be done at <br />temperatures equivalent to healthful and good commercial <br />practices. <br />d. State and federal standards will be strictly enforced in <br />regard to department work flow, room ventilation, room <br />layout, department equipment, processing times, water <br />temperatures and separation of clean from soiled <br />materials. <br />15. Maintenance <br />a. The maintenance program will ensure the facility remains <br />within state and federal standards for heating, ventila- <br />tion, electrical and plumbing facilities and equipment, <br />which includes resident equipment and furniture (except <br />that requiring highly technical expertise). <br />16. Individuals Responsible for Program Implementation <br />a. The Administrator will be responsible for implementation <br />of policy statements for each department in the facility. <br />The Administrator will designate an Infection Control <br />Nurse, appoint the members of the Infection Control <br />Committee and schedule meetings every three months, or <br />more often if necessary. The Administrator will be active <br />in planning and supporting the Infection Control Program. <br />When needed, the Administrator will assist the Medical <br />Director in implementing infection control procedures. <br />The Administrator will ensure department heads stay active <br />in the Infection Control Committee. <br />(continued) <br />
