Medical waste mixed with hazardous waste will be treated as hazardous <br /> waste. <br /> b. Medical waste mixed with radioactive waste will be treated as radioactive i <br /> waste, <br /> c. Medical waste mixed with hazardous and radioactive waste will be treated as 1 <br /> radioactive waste. <br /> IV. Waste Maintenance <br /> 9. Storage area description <br /> The designated accumulation area of Vienna used for the storage of medical waste <br /> containers prior to transportation or treatment is adjacent of the primary registration site <br /> within 400 yards from the property located next to the municipal solid waste site (dumpster <br /> area) of Vienna, This storage area is secured by use of locks on entry doors. Access are <br /> limited to Licensed Nurses on duty, Maintenance Person, and Registered Waste Hauler. <br /> The wording of warning signs is in English, "CAUTION- BIOHAZARDOUS WASTE <br /> STORAGE AREA—UNAUTHORIZED PERSONS KEEP OUT," and in Spanish, CUIDADO- <br /> ZONA DE RESIDUOS- BIOLOGICOS PELIGROSOS--PROHIBIDA LA ENTRADA A <br /> PERSONAS NO AUTORIZADAS,"Warning sign is readily legible during daylight from a <br /> distance of at least 25 feet. <br /> This designated accumulation area is solely for the temporary storage of waste generated <br /> through Vienna specific activities and provides medical waste protection from animals and <br /> natural elements. This area does not provide a breeding place or a food source for insects <br /> or rodents. Security, upkeep and maintenance of this area is the responsibility of employees <br /> who have access to the site. <br /> The medical waste at this accumulation area is picked up by Stericycle. if there are issues <br /> such as the barrels or containers are full or not picked up by the vendor or any other <br /> concerns, the Director of Staff Development (DSD) or the Director of Nursing (DON) contact <br /> the medical waste accumulation site manager to arrange for immediate pick up. <br /> 8 <br />
