If trained, disposable protective gloves, gowns, face masks, and eye covering <br /> as appropriate must be worn during all cleaning of blood/body fluids and during <br /> decontamination procedure. <br /> 4. Cover spill with paper towel or other absorbent material. Wipe up the spill and <br /> dispose properly. <br /> 5. Spills are cleaned utilizing a solution of 20 Neutral Disinfectant Cleaner. <br /> Blood/body fluids must be thoroughly cleaned from surfaces/objects before <br /> application of disinfectant. Then thoroughly wet surface with a use-solution <br /> of'/ounce of the concentrate per gallon of water. The use-solution can be <br /> applied with a coarse spray device by spraying 6-8 inches from the surface. <br /> 6. Let solution remain on surface for a minimum of 10 minutes. Rinse or allow to dry. <br /> HIV-1 is inactivated after a contact time of four minutes at 77 degrees Fahrenheit. <br /> HBV and HCV are inactivated after a 10 minutes contact time and the same for all <br /> other viruses, fungi and bacteria listed. The amount of solution mixed will not exceed <br /> the amount to be used at any one time. <br /> 7. Document actions, if necessary. <br /> Cleaning and Decontaminating Reusable Medical Waste Carts or Containers <br /> Reusable medical waste carts or containers are thoroughly washed and decontaminated <br /> by a method approved by the enforcement agency each time they are emptied. These <br /> containers are maintained in a clean and sanitary manner. The approved cleaning methods <br /> include agitation to remove visible soil combined with one of the following: <br /> 1. Exposure to hot water of at least 82 degrees Centigrade {180 degrees Fahrenheit <br /> for a minimum of 15 seconds. <br /> 2. Exposure to chemical sanitizer by rinsing with, or immersion in, one of the following <br /> for a minimum of three minutes, <br /> • Hypochlorite solution (500 ppm available chlorine) <br /> 3.
