Viehna IVursmg&Rehabilitation Gent <br /> Vll. Waste Supplies and Equipment <br /> Vienna use these supplies and equipment listed below for disposal of medical waste. <br /> i <br /> 1. Biohazard Bag <br /> A"biohazard bag" is a disposable red film bag used to contain medical waste. The <br /> biohazard film bag passed the tests prescribed for tear resistance of 480 grams in <br /> both parallel and perpendicular planes in the American Society for Testing Materials <br /> (ASTM) D1922 and (ASTM) D1709 standard test for impact resistance of 166 grams <br /> (drop dart test). <br /> 2. Sharps Container <br /> Sharps container is a rigid puncture-proof container that when sealed are leak <br /> resistant. This container is used in patient care and received approval from the United <br /> States Food and Drug Administration as a medical device used for the collection of <br /> discarded medical needles or other sharps. Container is labeled "SHARPS WASTE" <br /> or"BIOHAZARD"with the international biohazard symbol. <br /> 3. Pharmaceutical Waste Container <br /> Pharmaceutical waste container is an appropriate container for pharmaceutical <br /> waste, separated from biohazardous waste and sharp waste. The container is labeled <br /> with the biohazardous waste symbol and the words "HIGH HEAT" or"INCINERATION <br /> ONLY', or with another label approved by the CDPH, on the lid and sides, so as to be <br /> visible from any lateral direction. <br /> 4. Secondary Waste Container <br /> Secondary containers have tight fitting lids and marked with the international <br /> biohazard symbol and word stickers visible on all sides. All red biohazard wastes <br /> bags packaged for disposal are contained into a USDOT—approved containers <br /> lined with a biohazard bag that is ASTM D1709 and ASTM D1922 certified. <br /> I <br /> 14 <br />
