area).This storage area is secure by use of a lock on the entry door and locked at all times to <br /> prevent or deny access to unauthorized persons. The exterior of the entry door will be marked <br /> with warning signs and will be readily legible from a distance of 5 feet. Access will be limited to <br /> licensed nurses on duty, maintenance person, laundry aide on duty and registered waste <br /> hauler. The key is available from the Maintenance Office. <br /> PHARMACEUTICAL WASTE <br /> Pharmaceutical waste must be segregated and packaged into appropriate containers, <br /> separated from other biohazardous waste and sharps waste. Containers for pharmaceutical <br /> waste are typically blue and white in color and/or labeled "Pharmaceutical, For Incineration <br /> Only". These containers are picked up by Stericycle, Inc., our registred waste hauler for <br /> transport to an approved incineration facility when routine medical waste is hauled away for <br /> treatment. <br /> MIXED WASTE <br /> Waste consisting of medical and non-medical waste will be handled as medical waste except as <br /> follows: <br /> 1. Medical waste mixed with hazardous waste will treated as hazardous waste. <br /> 2. Medical waste mixed with radioactive waste will be treated as radioactive waste. <br /> 3. Medical waste mixed with hazardous and radioactive waste will be treated as radioactive <br /> waste. <br /> PATHOLOGY WASTE—(recognizable human anatomical remains) <br /> There are no medical wastes produced which contain or are comprised of recognizable <br /> anatomical remains at Vienna Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. <br /> CHEMOTHERAPEUTIC WASTE (antineoplasticicytotoxic drugs) <br /> Chemotherapeutic wastes are not generated or handled by this facility. <br /> Vienna Nursing and Rehabilitation Center accepts no medical waste from any other facility. <br /> Medical Waste Storage Methods <br /> All medical waste will be collected and stored in the Biohazardous Waste Storage Area until <br /> transported by the medical waste hauler.
