TITLE <br />HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCE PROGRAM <br />3.4 The emergency procedures to use in the event of a <br />spill, fire, release etc. <br />4.0 Final responsibility for exchange of information -Anardina <br />hazardous substances rests with the Administrator. <br />1.0 Basic response actions that must be followed in an emergency <br />situation •spill or leak, fire, <br />explosion, <br />chemical reaction, natural disaster, employee exposure, <br />accident, injury or other mishap are listed below. These <br />procedures are for the "average" emergency situation. For <br />pome "average" situations and more severe emergencies, <br />arrangements for acquiring outside, ddditional assistance <br />will • " • •the Facility Emergency <br />small,2.0 On-site fire involving hazardous substance. <br />2.1 Upon discovery of fire, pull closest fire alarm. <br />2.2 If the fire is Very AND IF SAFE TO <br />D# SO, use <br />good judgement and try to put out the fire. <br />2.2-1 Based on materials involved, choose the <br />appropriate fire extinguisher • quench <br />scene2.2-2 Always fight fires from the upwind side,; <br />2.3 If it can be done safely, isolate the affected area and <br />order all personnel not involved with the incident to <br />leave the area. <br />2.4 Notify the supervisor of incident. <br />2.4-1� Supervisor will contact lAdministrator. After <br />hours responsible person will be contacted as <br />per protocol for contacting the person on call. <br />2.5 Assure any injured pertonnei ar ' e cared for. <br />2*06 When the fire department arrives, direct them to the <br />of _ fire. <br />2.7 • • and evaluate hazards. <br />2.7-1 Attempt to identify hazardous substances <br />invol,ved <br />in the fire. D.: <br />Evaluate: Toxic hazards (toxic.: "• • <br />Explosive hazards <br />Environmental <br />it.. hazards <br />Other • <br />2.8 Do not enter the scene of the fire. <br />2.9 Take appropriate preventive <br />measures <br />spreading IF IT CAN BE DONE SAFELY. <br />2.9-1 Stop processes or operations where necessary. <br />2.9-2 Isolate affected areas or equipment. <br />2.9-3 Remove unaffected, potentially hazardous <br />2.10 If after consultation with on -scene emergency <br />personnel, evacuation is indicted initiate the <br />disaster/evacuation plan. <br />
