0 <br /> AMERICAN <br /> LABORATORY STERILIZER <br /> SQUARE TYPE WITH CYCLOMATIC CONTROL —F- <br /> I . WEEKLY BEFORE HEATING STERILIZER. Remove plug screen from <br /> bottom of chamber and clean lint and sediment from pores of <br /> strainer. The interior of the sterilizer should be cleaned <br /> every week (Monday morning) before it is heated. Wash the <br /> surfaces with a mild detergent (use Bon-Ami) and rinse with <br /> water. A sponge and brush should be used. Caution-do not <br /> use steel wool. The tray in the bottom of the chamber and <br /> and any other wire mesh or perforated metal shelves used in <br /> the sterilizer should be cleaned in like manner. Replace <br /> chart in controller before starting the days work. Set <br /> controller indicator to temperature required. <br /> II . WEEKLY INSPECTION OF CHAMBER DISCHARGE SYSTEM. Frequent <br /> inspection is advisable, to keep this line clean and opera- <br /> ting correctly. At intervals of one week (on Monday morning <br /> before heating autoclave) clean out the chamber discharge system <br /> by removing plug screen and inserting a funnel into the opening <br /> and then pouring into the line one to two liters of hot (not <br /> boiling) trisodium phosphate solution, containing about 28 grams <br /> of the trisodium phosphate per liter (1,000 ml) of hot water. <br /> If plug screen on inside of chamber is kept clear by daily <br /> cleaning, there will be little if any clogging. If dirt gets <br /> into line, it will clog air eliminator trap which must be <br /> taken apart for cleaning. Thermometer will indicate any <br /> interruption to free drainage. If line is completely clogged <br /> temperature will not rise at all. On rare occasions , element <br /> in eliminator trap will fatigue, remain open. Indication will <br /> be a definite lag in temperature rise.
