AMERICAN MEDICAL RESPONSE MEDICAL WASTE MANAGEMENT PLAN <br /> 18.5Eye and Face Protection: Masks in combination with eye protection <br /> devices, such as goggles or glasses with solid side shields, or <br /> combination surgical masks, are required to be worn whenever <br /> splashes, spray, splatter, or droplets of blood or OPIM may be <br /> generated and eye, nose, or mouth contamination can be reasonably <br /> anticipated. <br /> 18.6Additional Protection: Additional protective clothing (such as <br /> Gowns, Aprons, or similar other outer garments) shall be worn in <br /> instances when contamination can reasonably be anticipated for blood <br /> or OPIM. <br /> 18.7Regulated Waste Disposal: Regulated Waste shall be placed in <br /> containers that are closable, constructed to contain all contents and <br /> prevent leakage of fluids during handling, storage, or transportation. <br /> 18.8 Spilled Sharps: Spilled Sharps will be handled using tongs or other <br /> device so as the person cleaning-up the sharps spill will not and shall <br /> not handle any sharps device by hand. All PPE necessary shall be <br /> worn. <br /> NOTE: Disposal of all regulated waste shall be in accordance with <br /> applicable State and Local regulations. <br /> 19.0 EVALUATION AND REVIEW: <br /> 19.1 The SRM Department is responsible for annually reviewing this <br /> program and its effectiveness and for updating this program as <br /> needed. <br /> 10 <br />
