BAC <br /> HERITAGE <br /> A NOVOLEX BRAND <br /> January 21, 2020 <br /> To Our Customers: <br /> Heritage Bag Company 1.3 mil through 3.0 mil red color, printed linear low density <br /> polyethylene (LLDPE) biohazard and infectious waste bags meet or exceed the U.S. <br /> Department of Transportation (US DOT) regulations for plastic bags used for transport of <br /> regulated infectious/biohazardous medical waste. <br /> The DOT requirements are defined in the Code of Federal Regulations in title 49 CFR <br /> 173.197—Regulated Medical Waste which states the following bag performance <br /> requirements: <br /> • Tear performance (by ASTM D1922) in both directions to meet a minimum resistance <br /> of 480 grams. <br /> ® Puncture (Dart) performance (by ASTM D1709) requires impact resistance at a <br /> minimum of 165 grams. <br /> ■ The bag size must not exceed 46 gallons. <br /> ® When used as a liner, the bag may not weigh more than 22 lbs. (10 Kg)when filled. <br /> Please be aware that no High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) baps will be able to meet the <br /> above DOT ASTM D1922 Tear Performance minimum values. <br /> Since 2001, Heritage Bag Company has conducted on-going quality control testing and we <br /> certify that all Heritage Bag Company red color, printed LLDPE biohazard and infectious <br /> waste bags 1.3 mil and greater in thickness meet or exceed the US DOT requirements and <br /> the requirements of all fifty states.
