• If a Sharps container is found in the soiled linen, remove the container, <br />which will normally be red or white from the receiving cart. <br />• Log the medical facility the container/bag was received from with the <br />time, date, hour, amount of waste and cart number the waste was received <br />in. <br />• Notify the Supervisor of the Sharps Waste. <br />• Transport the RMW to the confined RMW storage area in the North West <br />corner of the laundry. <br />• Place the RMW into a container marked for RMW, cover the container <br />and lock the door to the storage area. <br />• Sharps are often found within the soiled linen and when they are found, <br />they are to be carefully removed from the soil sort conveyor and placed <br />carefully into a sharps container that is strategically placed on the soil sort <br />platform for ease of disposal. <br />• When the Sharps container is 3/4 full, the container is to be removed by <br />selected parties and disposed of in the RMW containment area. <br />1.3.5 Radioactive Waste: <br />• DO NOT TOUCH any unshielded radioactive substance. <br />• Evacuate area. <br />• Identify facility. <br />• Notify supervisor to call facility. <br />• Facility will immediately make arrangements to remove and transport <br />radioactive substance. <br />• Facility will be responsible for providing a complete sweep of any <br />possible exposed areas of the plant. <br />• Arrange for the responsible facility to furnish health care treatment for <br />any exposed Sodexo Laundry Stockton employee per their own <br />employee guideline. <br />• Document the occurrence and establish and maintain an accurate record <br />for each employee and exposure. <br />Employee Identification of RMW 3 of 3 <br />
