Policy <br />It is the policy of Sodexo Laundry Stockton to establish engineering and work <br />practices in the plant that guarantee no cross -contamination of clean linen and protect <br />employees from the danger of infection. <br />5.2. Process <br />All applicable work stations will be marked with signs indicating the potential for <br />exposure to infectious materials. <br />If you are assigned to the soil sort floor, you must remove your personal protective <br />equipment before entering the cafeteria or production floor. <br />All other employees must not handle soiled linen or soiled linen carts without <br />donning appropriate personal protective equipment. <br />5.3. Procedures <br />• There shall be no eating or smoking in either the soil sort or clean production <br />areas of the plant. There is a designated cafeteria adjacent to work areas <br />where breaks and meals may be taken. No food is to be removed from the <br />area. <br />• An adequate supply of personal protective equipment (gloves, caps, masks, <br />goggles and gowns) will be readily available for all of these employees. <br />Contaminated personal protective equipment will be removed and disinfected <br />or discarded. <br />• The surgical pack preparation area should be located in a separate, enclosed <br />room, equipped with an air filtration and ventilation system. The area is <br />restricted to authorized personnel only. <br />5.4. Personnel Health and Hygiene <br />• Employees in the packroom area must wear covers and keep their hair <br />completely covered at all times. <br />• Hair, nails and attire must be kept neat and clean at all times. Artificial nails <br />are prohibited for employees working in the surgical pack preparation area. <br />• Any employee with an enteric, respiratory or skin infection will not be <br />permitted to work in the packroom area. <br />• Absolutely no smoking, food or beverages are allowed in the packroom. <br />• All personal belongings are to be kept in employee lockers. <br />5.5. Storage of Supplies <br />• All supplies are to be stored on shelves/carts. <br />• Stored materials should be at least 8 inches above the floor and at least 18 <br />inches from the ceiling. <br />• Shelving/carts are to be maintained in clean and dry condition. <br />12.09 -17- <br />
