Ll <br />E <br />• Supplies and items should be stored so as not to bend, crush, compress or <br />puncture the packaging, or otherwise compromise the cleanliness of the <br />contents. <br />• Rotate by placing the newest supplies to the back or to the left on <br />shelving/carts. <br />5.6. Housekeeping <br />• Carts should be cleaned with a disinfectant, and liner (paper or plastic) should <br />be placed inside each cart before placing clean linen in the cart. <br />• Wire racks should be washed daily with a disinfectant. <br />• Shelves are to be dusted daily. <br />• Work tables should be dusted daily with a disinfectant cleaner. <br />• Floors should be dust mopped daily and wet mopped with disinfectant <br />cleaner weekly. <br />• Walls should be wiped off with a disinfectant cleaner at least monthly. <br />• At the end of each shift, all linen should be placed on shelves and covered or <br />into carts with liners to cover contents. <br />., . <br />• After they are wrapped, packs are to be placed on wire racks or into clean <br />carts with liners. <br />• Wire racks should be covered. <br />• Carts should have liners that completely cover the contents, and the liners <br />should fit securely. <br />• If a pack falls off a cart, it must be returned as soiled linen. <br />5.8. Handwashing Technique <br />• Handwashing is the most effective method for preventing the transfer of <br />infection from personnel to the linen or between personnel. Sanitizer <br />dispenser should be utilized in the Pack room. <br />• Frequent and effective hand washing techniques must be done: <br />• Immediately before going on duty and when returning from breaks and <br />meals. <br />• Following contact with contaminated areas or materials, (i.e. floors, <br />equipment and supplies). <br />• Following personal use of the restroom. <br />• Following sneezing or coughing. <br />• Any time that hands are obviously soiled. <br />• When going off duty. <br />5.9. Safety <br />• Handle and store combustible materials in a safe manner. <br />• No smoking is allowed in the facility. <br />• Maintain order and cleanliness at all times. <br />12.09 - 18- <br />
