Place the ceremonial casket back into storage. <br /> 7. Handling of Infant Decedents <br /> 7.1 First Calls for Infant or Fetal Decedents <br /> Policy. In addition to the policies and procedures outlined in First Call, the name of the mother <br /> or father must also be obtained to assist with identification of the decedent. <br /> Procedure. <br /> When completing the Initial Notification Form(FIN-CS051): <br /> 1. Write the name of decedent as provided by the caller in"Name of Decedent". <br /> 2. Write the "Mother's Name" or the "Father's Name" in the For Infant/Fetal Decedents <br /> Only: section of the form. <br /> 7.2 Removal for Infant or Fetal Decedents <br /> Policy. Removals of infants and fetal decedents, under 22 inches in length, must be conducted in <br /> accordance with the policies and procedures in Decedent Removal. <br /> Procedure. <br /> In addition to the procedures in Decedent Removal, follow the below procedures: <br /> 1. Compare the decedent's name and mother's or father's name on the Initial Notification <br /> Form (FIN-CS051) with the names on the institution identification band and paperwork <br /> to confirm identification of the decedent. <br /> 2. Complete a white identification band for the decedent(see White Identification Band). <br /> a. If the funeral home has the decedent's given name, write both names on the white <br /> identification band and all accompanying paperwork (example: "Infant Girl of Jane <br /> Doe AKA SMITH, Annabelle Jo"). <br /> 3. Wrap the decedent in a disposable underpad (see Required Supplies for Infants or Fetal <br /> Decedents) in a traditional manner (e.g. swaddling). Use infant body bags in cases where <br /> the condition of the infant or fetal decedent requires additional safeguard from exposure. <br /> 4.
