Field Operations Policy and Procedures <br />Personal Protective Equipment <br />Equipment used by authorized personnel when handling decedents. Such equipment includes (but <br />is not limited to) heat -resistant leather work gloves and aprons, heat -reflective face shields, <br />particulate masks and ear plugs. <br />Preparation Area <br />Any area, room or location in the facility where decedents are prepared, handled, staged or stored <br />for final disposition. This includes but is not limited to areas where the following activities are <br />regularly performed: <br />• Embalming <br />• Cosmetizing <br />• Casketing <br />• Refrigeration <br />• Dressing <br />Prosthesis <br />An artificial object attached to or positioned inside a decent. Such items include (but are not <br />limited to) artificial limbs, ball joints and sockets. <br />Refrigeration unit <br />A cooler in which decedents are stored prior to cremation. <br />Removal <br />The act of transferring the decedent from the place of death into the custody of the Company for <br />funeral, cremation and/or mortuary services. <br />Removal service <br />A third -party business or individual that provides decedent removal services to the Company. <br />Remove <br />To take a device out of a decedent's body. <br />Restricted Area <br />Any area of the facility not intended for, and away from public view or occupancy, with entry <br />doors equipped with either manual or electronic locking devices. <br />Restricted Room <br />Any room in the facility not intended for, and away from public view or occupancy, with entry <br />doors equipped with either manual or electronic locking devices. <br />Version 2.1 Page 64 of 70 Revised: 07/10/2015 <br />Document Owner: Operations Support 0 2015 SCI Funeral & Cemetery Purchasing Cooperative, Inc. <br />
