15.0 INFORMATION AND TRAINING: <br /> 15.1 SRM Department shall ensure that training is provided to the employees at the <br /> time of initial assignment to tasks where occupational exposure to <br /> Infectious Wastes may occur, and that it shall be repeated within twelve . <br /> months of the previous training. Training shall be provided at no cost to the <br /> employee and at a reasonable time and place. Training shall be tailored to <br /> the education and language level of the employee. The training will be <br /> interactive and cover the following elements: <br /> o An accessible copy of the standard and an explanation of its contents. <br /> A discussion of the signs and symptoms of bloodborne diseases. <br /> o An explanation of the modes of transmission of bloodborne pathogens. <br /> o An explanation of the American Medical Response Bloodborne <br /> Pathogen Exposure Control Plan and a method of obtaining a copy. <br /> o The recognition of tasks that may involve exposure. <br /> o An explanation of the use and limitations of methods to reduce exposure, <br /> i.e., engineering controls, work practices and Personal Protective Equipment <br /> (PPE). <br /> o Information on the types, use, locations, removal, handling, <br /> decontamination and disposal ofPPE's. <br /> o An explanation of the basis of selection of PPE's. <br /> o Information on the appropriate actions to take and persons to contact in an <br /> emergency involving blood or OPIM. <br /> o An explanation of the procedures to follow if an exposure incident occurs, <br /> including the method of reporting and medical follow-up. <br /> o Information on the evaluation and follow-up required after an employee <br /> exposure incident. <br /> o An explanation of the signs, labels, and colors. <br /> 15.2 Employees who have received training on bloodborne pathogens in the twelve <br /> months preceding the effective date of this policy shall only receive training in <br /> provisions of the policy that were not covered. <br /> 15.3 Additional training shall be provided to employees when there are -any changes <br /> of tasks of procedures affecting the employee's occupational exposure. <br /> 15.4 TRAINING RECORDS: <br /> • Safety and Risk Management is responsible for maintaining the training <br /> records. These records will be kept at the Safety and Risk Management <br /> department at our Corporate Headquarters in Colorado through the <br /> Success Factors program. <br />
