Individual Omnicare pharmacies should not be making arrangements with waste transports that have not been approved by the CVS Corporate Environmental Department. The final treatment methodology is by incineration. In the states where CHES transports the RMW, they are licensed in those states to transport the waste. If a regulatory agency requests proof that CHES is licensed to transport RMW in your state, please contact the CVS Health Corporate Environmental Department. Additionally, certain Omnicare pharmacies in California (Canoga Park, Lodi, Cerritos, and San Diego) hold IV certification courses and generate used sharps as result of live stick procedures mandated by the State of California as a prerequisite for passing the course.
