In fact, the amount of funding requested by the Lab
for nuclear weapons activities in fiscal year 1993(nearly$500 million)is actually up by almost
$40 million from fiscal year 1992!
Valid areas for public testimony include(but are not limited to):the Lab's current and future
programs (i.e.: nuclear weapons design and testing and uranium enrichment); hazardous
wastes (which this report says will increase over the next 5 years); past, present and future
toxic and radioactive releases; ground water contamination; seismic issues, community
rights; the Lab's mission in the post cold war era; and suggestions for the University of
California's upcoming management contract (such as conversion to socially beneficial
programs and "whistleblower" protection for workers).
,Tri-Valley CAREs 1 4: Western States - • • • • • • (510) 839-5877
