The Lawrence Livermore National oratory Site 300 (hereafter LLNL Site 300), <br />operated by the University of California for the U.S: Department of Energy, <br />submitted.s. report of waste discharge, dated 11 December 1978, and additional <br />Information dated 15 February 1979 and 18 July 1980. The property is owned by <br />the United States Government. <br />2. Surface water drainage at 11LIL Site 300 is to Corral Hollow Creek, Elk Ravine, <br />and San Joaquin Delta. <br />3. LLNL Site 300 presently discharges ted Group 1 and Group 3 wastes in Sec- <br />tions 16 and 17, T3S, R4E, HDB&M as shownin Attach=ent "A" incorporated herein <br />\ and made part of this Order. Existing inactive disposal sites are also shown. <br />4. Current plans indicate a continued discharge of Firing Table debris. Firing <br />Table debris consists of construction debris and gravel that has been contam- <br />inated with depleted uranium, beryllium, and lesser quantities of 'natural <br />uranium, thorium, and tritium. <br />5. The disposal and treatment of domestic and industrial wastewater generated at <br />LIM Site 300 is governed by Order No. 80-183 <br />6. With appropriate modification the disposal sites meet the criteria contained <br />In the California Administrative Code, Title 23, Subchapter 15, for classifi- <br />cation as a Class II -1 Disposal Site suitable to received limited Group 1 and <br />Group 3 wastes. <br />7. The total capacity of the active disposal sites is Pit 1, 58,964 cubic yards, <br />Pit 7, 31,111 cubic yards. The total capacity of inactive sites is Pit 2, <br />25,412 cubic yards, Pit 3, 26,221 cubic yards, Pit 4, 2,796 cubic yards, Pit 5, <br />29,907 cubic yares, Pit 6, 50,997 cubic yards znd Pit 8, 5,400 cubic yards. <br />8. Land within 1,000 feet (305 meters) of the active sites is used -for open space <br />on the LLNL Site 300 test facility. <br />9. The Water Quality Control Plan for the Sacramento -San Joaquin Delta Basin was <br />adopted on 25 July 1975, and this Order implements Lhe water quality objectives <br />stated in the plan. <br />
