 * MEMORANDUM
Inspection - 2' - 9 October 1975
r
Solid Waste Disposal Site
Regarding the other waste materials, Mr. De Benedetti stated that he could pro-
bably take any new waste to the County's Harney Lane disposal site. He further
stated that existing wastes would be adequately covered when he is able to pro-
cure more cover soil for the site.
Our inspection indicates that the Sanitary City Disposal Company is currently
operating an illegal and inadequate disposal site operation which threatens
to impair the quality of local surface and ground waters. The operator's repre-
sentative his indicated that he will cooperate in closing the site down imme-
diately, and will institute adequate closure procedures in the near future.
Provided action is taken in the next few days to close the site in a adequate
manner, I believe that enforcement action is not necessary. However, I sug-
gest that the operator be requested- to submit his plan for adequate site
closure, together with a reasonable time schedule for achieving complete con-
tainment of all wastes.
(OC41
STEVEN C.
