}
EWS
Ca-Zoom® PTZ Camera Produces "Glowing" Results
PTZ Camera Utilized in Riboflavin Rinse Method for Spray-ball Coverage for the Pharmaceutical Industry
Most mixing vessels in the pharmaceutical industry are constructed with CIP,or"clean-in-place"technology. This typically takes the form of built-in spray ball or spray nozzle system.
Before a new vessel is put into production, the CIP spray cleaning system, and more specifically the cleaning process itself, must be validated.Simply put—does the CIP system
sufficiently clean the entire internal surface of the vessel and all mixing components?
p. One procedure used to validate part of a cleaning process is the"Riboflavin Rinse"method. For this method,a water-
based solution of 0.02%riboflavin(vitamin B2)is sprayed on the internal vessel.Riboflavin is used because it is:
•a food substance(non-hazardous material)
•water-soluble
•fluorescent under UV light at very low levels(-500 microwatts per square centimeter.)
After the riboflavin is applied, the CIP nozzles spray a water solution onto the vessel wall and internal surfaces to
remove the riboflavin. These surfaces are then illuminated b a UV light source and inspected b a camera. An
Y 9 p Y Y
a
residual riboflavin will fluoresce,an indication that the spraying device coverage may not be validated. Adjustment
and retesting would take place until there is no riboflavin detected in the post-cleaning inspection.
The Ca-Zoom PTZ camera system is ideally suited to this application. It is portable, easily deployed, and provides
Ga- high resolution images from long distances. The operator is able to remotely control the pan, tilt, zoom, light intensity,
vessel,
PTZ6.0 camera deployed in mixing and recording functions from a hand-held video camera controller, allowing the completion of a full inspection without
vessel, viewing spray nozzle ever having to enter the vessel.
The benefits of using the Ca-Zoom PTZ camera system can clearly be identified in this application. They include:
Makes inspections safer—no vessel entry necessary.
PRODUCTIVITY IMPROVEMENTS
Decreases downtime and increases available production time.Average time to complete vessel inspections is reduced
from five hours to less than one hour.
COST
ji
Reduced cost. Documented results from a major petrochemical company show an average of$15K savings per each
avoided vessel entry.
Image captured by Ca-Zoom PTZ camera shows The combination of increased safety, reduced time per job and lower costs provide a powerful incentive for the
traces of riboflavin fluorescence in inspection area application of the Ca-Zoom PTZ camera system to the cleaning validation programs in the pharmaceutical industry.
Everest VIT Receives F119 Engine Approval
XL PROTM Plus VideoProbe® System Meets the Borescope The 6.2 mm XL PRO Plus system met the borescope requirements for the F119 engine,
Requirements for the F/A 22 Raptor and received Support Equipment Recommendation Data(SERD)#0899 and National
Stock Number(NSN)6650-01-529-6721.The equipment was approved for the F119
Everest VIT was invited by the United States Air Force F119 Program Office and Pratt& engine.
Whitney,a United Technologies Company,to participate in the borescope evaluation of
the F119 engine program associated with the F/A 22 Raptor. The evaluation took place
at Nellis AFB,NV,and was conducted by Pratt&Whitney,Robins Air Force Base(AFB) `
Borescope Engineering and the F119 Engine SPO from Wright Patterson AFB. r
The F119 engine has eight borescope access ports. The certification process required
that our XL PRO VideoProbe insertion tube be placed into each of these ports on a
specially-prepared test engine containing known defects. The XL PRO Plus system
was required to navigate to predetermined inspection areas, provide clear images and
make accurate measurements of the defects. Each port was inspected by the 6.2 mm
diameter XL PRO Plus system using various tip adapters to ensure proper lighting and F119-PW-100 Turbofan
resolution.
4 Visit www.everestvit.com/newsletter/index.html for more articles
