O.W.CITY OF STOCKTON
AZ#
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS
CITY HALL
425 N. EL DORADO STREET
STOCKTON, CA 95202-1997
June 9, 1993
Mr. Ed Padilla, RENS
San Joaquin County Public Health Services
Environmental Health Division
P.O. Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
AMENDMENT TO AUSTIN ROAD LANDFILL REPORT OF DISPOSAL SITE
INFORMATION (RDSI)
At our June 7, 1993 meeting with California Integrated Waste
Management Board (CIWMB) staff to discuss the Solid Waste Facility
Permit Revision, they requested that the City amend the landfill's
RDSI to address the existing sludge stockpile and current waste
tire disposal procedures. These amendments are provided below:
AMENDMENTS TO AUSTIN ROAD LANDFILL RDSI
DISPOSAL SITE OPERATIONS
MATERIALS HANDLING ACTIVITIES
Special Handling Procedures
1. Existing Sewage Sludge Stockpile: the landfill no
longer accepts sewage sludge from the Regional
Wastewater Treatment Facility. There is, however, an
existing sludge stockpile of about 20,000-25,000
cubic yards at the site. The City of Stockton
Municipal Utilities Department is working on plans
to have it removed. It will either be hauled off-
site or be put to a beneficial use on-site (after
receiving regulatory agency approvals).
2. Waste Tire Disposal: tires are no longer accepted at
the landfill. However, tires that arrive mixed in
municipal solid waste loads are removed from the
fill area and placed in a container by the landfill
operator. When the container gets full it is hauled
away for recycling.
MIKE MILLER
SOLID WASTE MANAGER
"STOCKTON ... CALIFORNIA'S SUNRISE SEAPORT"
