Effects of the operation
are minimal on surrounding land users.
Amok The current operation of the Foothill Sanitary Landfill is
PW consistent with the San Joaquin County Solid Waste Management Plan,
dated March 1986, which indicated the site receives a majority of
the Central County Region's waste. The Plan further indicates that
the site has sufficient capacity to receive all of the Central
County waste over the long term should other existing disposal
sites serving the region not be expanded or replaced with other
alternatives when they reach capacity.
3 .0 WASTE CHARACTERIZATION
The waste received at the landfill consists mainly of residential
refuse, commercial waste, construction and demolition waste, and
agricultural waste. Septic tank waste, hazardous waste, infectious
waste, liquid wastes, and large dead animals are not accepted. The
site does accept tires, stumps, and logs, which are charged special
fees. Table 2 shows a breakdown of the various waste types which
make up the site's waste stream.
Approximately 90% of the waste stream for the Foothill Sanitary
Landfill currently comes from the County's Lovelace Transfer
Station. The remaining 10% of the waste stream consists of public
self-haul and construction demolition waste. The Lovelace Transfer
Station is being renovated and expanded to help meet the
requirements of AB 939 .
16
l
