3 SITE EXCAVATION <br /> 3.1 Landfill Excavation plans <br /> The preliminary excavation plans for the site are on Drawing C-2 of <br /> the Preliminary Design Report (PDR) , dated August 22 , 1991. The <br /> grades shown are those for the top of the HDPE drainage net of the <br /> liner and LCRS. A 2-foot operations layer will be placed over the <br /> drainage net. <br /> Site excavation operations are divided into two categories; (1) <br /> excavation for construction of landfill liners and LCRS, and (2) <br /> excavation to obtain cover material for landfill operations. <br /> 3.2 Landfill liners and LCRS: <br /> Final excavation for construction of liners and the LCRS will be <br /> performed by contractors retained by the County. This will be done <br /> by issuance of technical construction documents for successful <br /> bidders by the County. The outside contractors will perform the <br /> excavation and stockpile of soil according to project <br /> specifications. <br /> 3.3 Cover excavation: <br /> Cover excavation will be performed by the Operator. The cover <br /> material will be obtained from the zones of excavation from the <br /> design plans for the site furnished by the County. The County will <br /> provide an excavation grading plan to the Operator showing <br /> elevation contours for the excavation. These grades will typically <br /> be a minimum of one foot above the excavation grades for the <br /> construction of the landfill liner. <br /> 3.4 Methods <br /> 6 <br />
