® • Procedures for recovering costs associated with illegal disposal of hazardous waste; and <br />• Other procedures as may be needed, as approved by the LEA. <br />Special handing procedures are also employed by the landfill for specific types of waste as <br />described below (also provided in Section 7.4.2): <br />• Cathode ray tubes (CRTs) are removed from televisions arid computer monitors and <br />stored onsite prior to shipping to an offsite for reuse/disposal. The housing and <br />associated wiring is landfilled. <br />• Tires are segregated from the waste stream and stored onsite prior to shipping to an <br />offsite vendor for reuse/disposal. <br />• White goods are diverted from the waste stream and stored onsite. The landfill operator <br />contracts with a vendor who comes onsite to remove and capture Freon gas from <br />refrigerators and air conditioners. Once the freon is removed the white goods are the <br />landfilled. <br />The protection of the health and safety of th general public at unloading areas is accomplished <br />with the use of signs for information and t affic control, use of attendants at all times that direct <br />the customers, operators keep an eye on ustomers, portable radios are used on-site for <br />communication. <br />7.7. ENVIRONMENTAL <br />Nuisance is, in part, defined in Title 27 as "anything which is injurious to human health or is <br />indecent or offensive to the�senses and interferes with the comfortable enjoyment of life or <br />property". Operations a400thill Sanitary Landfill are conducted to mitigate landfill nuisance. <br />The nuisance control xfieasure employed by the facility are discussed in Sections 7.7.1 <br />through 7.7.11. j <br />7.7.1. Fire Control <br />The scale house, maintenance building, and lunch trailer all have wall -mounted fire <br />extinguishers.
