3 WASTE CLASSIFICATION AND MANAGEMENT <br /> 3.1. Waste Types <br /> The Foothill Sanitary Landfill is permitted as a Class III landfill. The Solid Waste Facility Permit <br /> allows the landfill to accept: <br /> • Agricultural, residential, commercial and industrial wastes <br /> • Construction and demolition debris <br /> • Small loads of soil or gravel <br /> • Yard waste <br /> • Small dead animals <br /> • Large dead animals (with prior permission from San Joaquin County EHD) <br /> • Wood waste <br /> • Manure <br /> • Stumps and logs <br /> • White goods such as refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioning units. <br /> • Tires <br /> A refuse characterization study has not been performed at the site; however, it is assumed that <br /> the refuse received at the site is similar to previous studies (Table 1) <br /> Septic tank wastes, toxic materials, five gallon or larger drums, infectious wastes, liquid wastes <br /> including automotive fluids, cannery wastes, hazardous wastes, large loads of soil or gravel, <br /> trailers, and burned wastes are not accepted. <br /> Electronic wastes are accepted and managed in accordance with current state law.
