DAILY FIELD REPORT Page 1 of 1
Project Name: Foothill Sanitary Landfill - Area 2A Report Number: 001
Project Number: 11-101-01 Date: Monday 05/11/15
Owner: Dept. of Public Works, San Joaquin County CQA Monitors: T. Sathees
Contractor: R J Gordon Construction, Inc.
Weather: Clear Wind: 0-10 mph.
Tem erature: Approx. range 55-85 F Other:
The contractor worked from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.
Pioneering Work: (1) CAT 14H motorgrader, (1) CAT D6 dozer, and (1) CAT 627 scraper pioneered to construct haul routes
from the stockpile to south side of the project area. The scraper was idle after mid-morning, and the dozer was moved for
clearing and grubbing activity.
Clearing and Grubbing: (1) CAT D6 dozer started removing the vegetation and deleterious soil (unsuitable loose surface soil
that could form the subgrade for Foundation layer/Earth fill/Operations layer) to form windrows at the cut areas for the
scrapers to haul tomorrow. (1) CAT water pull was used for dust control during excavation at the site.
Onsite Soil Classification: Results of field screening indicated that onsite soils of predominantly consisted tan to dark brown
sandy silt/silty sand with fines content (minus #200 sieve) ranging from 30 to 54 percent, and clean gray sand with fines
content of approximately 3 percent. The Contractor was advised to segregate fine-grained soil and sand for future processing
and use as foundation layer, earthfill, and operations layer.
He was also advised to segregate the gravels/cobbles (oversize materials) that were visible on the North-West area of the cell
due to erosion from existing access roads. These soils with oversize rock would be unsuitable for foundation or operations
layer.
Equipment Onsite: (1) CAT D8T dozer, (1) CAT D6T dozer, (1) CAT water pull, (4) 627 scrapers, (1) 14H motorgrader,
Problems/Resolutions.
Visitors:
Reviewed By: M.
