As a result, only the following interfaces were tested and the numbering
system used by SGI for these test series are as follows:
Single Interface Test Series Interface Tested
1 GCL/FLS
2 GM/GCL
3 GM/GC
After Single Interface Test Series 1 through 3 were completed, two additional test series were
conducted to confirm the single interface test results. These two test series are numbered below
and consist of multiple interface tests in which all of the interfaces shown below are tested at the
same time:
Multi -Interface Test Series
4 - Base Liner System
5 — Sideslope Liner System
Interface Tested
Gravel/GM/GCL/FLS
Operations Soil/GC/GM/GCL/FLS
The specimen configuration and test procedures, including hydration and consolidation
conditions and times, normal stresses, and shear displacement rates are described by AES (2015)
and are in agreement with the requirements of Section 02800 of the contract specifications.
2.0 Material Specifications
There are several key material parameters that impact the interface strength results presented
below. Some of these parameters exceed the contract specifications, so for the test results
presented herein to be representative of field conditions, the installed material should exhibit the
same parameters as used in the laboratory interface testing. The key parameters are summarized
below and details of this testing are presented in AES (2015):
F
n
LJ
n
