DAILY FIELD REPORT Page 1 of 1 Project Name: Foothill Sanitary Landfill - Area 2A Report Number: 031 Project Number: 11-101-01 Date: Tuesday 06/23/15 Owner: Dept. of Public Works, San Joaquin County CQA Monitors: T. Sathees Contractor: R J Gordon Construction, Inc. M. Hu and Weather: Clear Wind: 0-10 mph. Temperature: ARprox. range 70-100 F Other: The contractor worked from 7:00 am to 4:30 pm. Excavation: Up to (1) CAT D8 dozer, (1) CAT D6 dozer, (2) CAT 637 scrapers and (2) CAT 627 scrapers (from afternoon) continued excavating Drainage Basin 2 at southeast of the project area and southeast slope area, and hauled the material to the South Stockpile 3. After 3:30 pm the excavation activity at Drainage Basin 2 was stopped. Up to (1) CAT D6 dozers and (2) CAT 627 scrapers continued excavating Drainage Basin 1 at northwest of the project area, and hauled, from 7:00 am to 11:00 am, the brown silty sand material (fine-grained) to the South Stockpile 1 (Foundation) for Foundation layer construction. The Excavation activity was stopped around 11:00 am as scattered cobbles appeared in the cut. In the afternoon, (2) CAT 627 scrapers started removing the top soil south of Drainage Basin 2 for more Foundation soil. (1) CAT 621 water pull was used to maintain excavation areas, stockpiles and haul roads. One laborer with a shovel and a rake continued working on the north slopes to fine grade the slope face. South Stockpile 1 (Foundation): (2) CAT 627 scrapers continued hauling the Foundation soil, from 7:00 am to 10:30 am, to placement area at the cell. (2) CAT 627 scrapers hauled the brown silty sand material (fine-grained) from Drainage Basin 1 to the stockpile. The stockpiling activity was stopped as scattered cobbles appeared in the material. The portion of the Foundation stockpile mixed with some cobbles will not be suitable for future use. South Stockpile 2 (Operations): No activity was observed. South Stockpile 3: The scrapers hauled and stockpiled the soil from the excavation at Drainage Basing. Access Road Embankment Fill (Earthfill): No activity was observed. Foundation Layer: The Contractor continued placing Foundation layer at Northeast area of the cell floor. (1) CAT 825 compactor compacted the Foundation layer prior to placement of new material. (2) CAT 627 scrapers hauled the soil from South Stockpile 1 (Foundation) and placed thin lifts. The 825 compactor and a vibratory -type CAT CS54B smooth -drum roller were used to break the big clods and to compact the Foundation soil. (1) CAT 14H motorgrader was used for spreading and mixing the soil. (1) CAT 621 water pull was used to moisture -condition the Foundation soil. Around 10:30 am, placement activity was stopped as scattered cobbles appeared with some loads of material and these loads were rejected. The Contractor was advised to remove the material. (2) CAT 627 scrapers removed the material with cobbles that was placed today. (1) CAT 14H motorgrader assisted the removal process by windrowing the soil. The Contractor also utilized the scraper traffic to provide additional processing and compaction to the Foundation layer at the cell. Density testing on the Foundation layer soil indicated compliance with the specifications. Equipment Onsite: (1) CAT D8T dozer, (1) CAT D6T dozer, (1) CAT D6R dozer (with slope board) (1) CAT 621G water pull, (4) CAT 627 scrapers, (2) CAT 637 scrapers, (1) 14H motorgrader, (1) CAT 825H compactor, (1) water truck, (1) Hitachi 300 excavator, (1) CAT CS 5413 smooth drum roller (vibratory type).
