The Operator must have both hands on the chainsaw, one on the controls and the other on the <br /> chainsaw hold bar that may also have an emergency stop control installed. <br /> The chainsaw operator must be aware of others around and not use the chainsaw if the area is not <br /> clear of other employees and the hands and limbs of other workers. <br /> When fueling a chainsaw the chainsaw must be shut down and cooled off before fueling. <br /> Ear protection might be required if the saw does not have an effective muffler device <br /> 5.1.16 Erecting Temporary Structure or Working from Aerial Lift <br /> Follow CB&I procedure CMS-710-02-PR-00700. Observe the following practices and procedures when <br /> erecting temporary structure or working from aerial lift: <br /> • Wear leather gloves while attaching support members to protect against pinching injuries. <br /> • While working from elevated levels greater than six feet, ensure that all employees have 100% fall <br /> protection with full body harnesses and guardrails. <br /> • Do not stand under loads that are being raised or lowered with cranes or aerial lifts. <br /> • Conduct pre-operational inspection of aerial lifts using CMS-710-02-FM-00701, including: <br /> - Check tire air pressure,hydraulic fuel level,and pressure. <br /> - Make sure pivot pins are secured. <br /> - Check hoses for worn areas. <br /> - Check for cracks or deviations in welded parts. <br /> - Check that the safety limit switch works freely. <br /> - Check the security of the guardrail system on the platform. <br /> - Check both ground and platform control functions. Raise and lower each boom system separately, <br /> listen for any unusual noises,vibrations, or uneven operations. <br /> • Maintain appropriate distance from overhead utilities: <br /> - Maintain at least 10 feet from overhead power lines, up to 50 kV. <br /> - For voltages over 50 kV, add 0.4 inches per kV to obtain the safe distance between equipment and <br /> power lines. <br /> - If voltage is unknown,remain at least 20 feet from overhead power lines. <br /> • Conduct site evaluation to determine proper positioning for the unit. Make sure surface is level. <br /> Cordon off holes,drop-offs, bumps or weak ground surfaces. <br /> • Never climb a raised platform or stand on the mid-rail or top-rail. <br /> • Tools should always be hung or put into a belt whenever possible. <br /> • Specific training must be obtained on the aerial lift to be used. <br /> 5.1.17 Confined Spaces <br /> Observe CMS-710-02-PR-01700:hi addition, observe the following confined spaces procedures and <br /> practices: <br /> 5-11 <br />
