REEM;144=114:18 U.'Whil 1 1 I - I -
giraway
Tom Pinkos
Stan Phillippe
6/81 Drilling mud ponds were. inspected and found to have a soil permeability
8 x 10-6 and was required to be I x 10®6.Forwardcomplied with the
more restrictive criteria in order to receive the drilling muds. An
inspection made 2/25/82 by CVRWQCB indicated some violations. The in-
spection report will be completed and made available to all parties by
4/27/82 or 4/28/82. The February inspection report does make reference
to violations that were not noted on the report made available to County
Counsel on the 3/4/82 report.
State Geologist Jim Parsons cleared all monitoring wells at the site at
the time they were installed. It now appears that more monitoring wells
must be installed at the site. More information must be obtained from
Jim Parsons before Forward is notified of this change. Samples from two
(2) existing monitoring wells containing water do not indicate any signif-
icant migration of chemicals into the water strata. One well was destroyed
and six (6) are dry which indicates no liquid transferred beyond the site.
CVRWQCB stated they were concerned about the levees of the drilling mud
ponds not -being compacted to 1 x 1-6; however, the ponds were filled with
a bentonite material which is an approved sealing material for water wells.
CVRWQCB stated they will have a representative at the hearing 5/4/82 to
answer any questions the Board of Supervisors might have regarding the
Forward Site.
E
