Although Stockton owns <br /> the site, it contracts for operation of the landfill with a private <br /> contractor. <br /> The facility is not open to the general public, and is used <br /> exclusively by the City's franchised and licensed collectors. The <br /> site is a Class III landfill, and as such, receives residential, <br /> commercial, and industrial wastes. <br /> The City of Stockton Department of Public Works reports that during <br /> calendar year 1988, the landfill received 152,452 tons. <br /> The fees charged at the landfill during 1988 were as follows: <br /> - Commercial waste $2.65/cubic yard <br /> - Residential waste: $1.43/cubic yard <br /> In addition to the above gate fees, Stockton's Franchised and <br /> Licensed Collectors pay a 12% franchise fee to the city. <br /> 8 <br />
