The 1993 waste ' <br /> landfilled per person per day in San Joaquin County is <br /> estimated as follows: <br /> Calculation of Waste Landfilled Per Capita ' <br /> Total Tons Delivered to Landfills in 1993 675, 309 ' <br /> Less Diversion at Landfills —27, 536 <br /> Equals Total Waste Landfilled 647,773 <br /> Times Number of Pounds in Ton x 2, 000 <br /> ------------- <br /> Equals Pounds Landfilled in 1993 1, 295, 546, 000 ' <br /> Divided by County Population as of 12-31-93 _505, 241 , <br /> Equals Pounds Per Person Per Year 2,564 <br /> Divided by Number of Days in Year =365 , <br /> Equals Pounds Landfilled Per Person Per Day 7.02 ' <br /> J. Waste Generated Per Capita in the County Unincorporated Area: <br /> The amount of waste generated is expressed in the following <br /> equation: <br /> Waste Generated = Waste Disposed + Waste Diverted ' <br /> Waste diverted includes materials recycled, composted, and ' <br /> incinerated. Prior to passage of the ACT, data on waste <br /> diversion were not being collected. Diversion information <br /> currently being collected by the County for purposes of the ' <br /> ACT comes from programs provided by the County and Cities, by <br /> refuse collection companies, by local recyclers, and by WTE ' <br /> companies. <br /> There are many forms of diversion not being quantified at this <br /> time, including the recycling of corrugated cardboard by ' <br /> grocery chains, the recycling of auto bodies by the scrap <br /> 10 ' <br />
