Waste Collection in the County Unincorporated Area: <br /> For purposes of residential waste collection in the <br /> unincorporated area, the County is divided into six <br /> geographical areas (see Figure 1) . Private refuse collection <br /> companies are franchised for residential waste collection in <br /> each of those areas. The franchises are issued for a 7-year <br /> periods. A six year extension can be granted by the County <br /> Board of Supervisors. Current franchise agreements terminate <br /> on December 31, 2001. <br /> 11 <br />
