THE SELF-HAUL WASTE STREAM: <br /> Self-haul waste is waste that is brought to disposal sites by generators of the waste. <br /> Throughout this report, self-haul waste is everything brought to disposal sites by other <br /> than a municipality or a licensed/franchised collector. <br /> L. WASTE COLLECTION IN THE COUNTY UNINCORPORATED <br /> AREA: <br /> Forur oses of residential <br /> p pwaste collection in the unincorporated area, the County is <br /> divided into six geographical areas (see Figure 1). Private refuse collection companies are <br /> franchised for residential waste collection in each of those areas. The franchises are issued <br /> for a seven year period. A six year extension can be granted by the County Board of <br /> Supervisors. Current franchise agreements terminate on December 31, 2001. In addition <br /> to residential waste, the franchised companies can collect commercial and industrial wastes <br /> anywhere in the County <br /> 1.
