FIRE PREVENTION PLAN
Forward Landfill
Manteca, California
1 INTRODUCTION
Forward Landfill (Forward) has developed this Fire Prevention_
Plan to enhance worker health and safety; detect, alleviate, and
control fire hazards; and comply with local, state, and federal
regulations.
There is an inherent danger from fire during hazardous °and waste
materials handling activities. Many ignition sources are
present, such as cutting and welding, temporary heaters; °lights,
open flame, static electricity, etc. Additionally, the
accumulation of debris increases the likelihood of fire.
2 GENERAL REQ NTS - FIRE PROTECTION
The fire prevent -ion plan will be reviewed and site-specific
rules developed annually and/or whenever landfill
configurations and operations are significantly modified -..at
the Site. For projects/tasks with extraordinary hazards,
more detailed and specific programs and equipment will be
arranged.
A. The FireProtection Plan must include the following
essential considerations:
1. Proper site preparation.
2. Availability of private and public fire
protection.
3. Safe installation and protection of temporary
buildings and other structures.
4. Adequate job site fire protection.
5. Minimizing inherent construction fire hazards.
6. Installation of permanent safeguards as
construction progresses.
7. Safety orientation of employees.
B. Recommended practices and standards of the National
Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and other applicable
regulations shall be followed in the development and
0 application of Project Fire Protection Plans.
FP -1
