FIRE PREVENTION PLAN <br />Forward Landfill <br />Manteca, California <br />1 INTRODUCTION <br />Forward Landfill (Forward) has developed this Fire Prevention_ <br />Plan to enhance worker health and safety; detect, alleviate, and <br />control fire hazards; and comply with local, state, and federal <br />regulations. <br />There is an inherent danger from fire during hazardous °and waste <br />materials handling activities. Many ignition sources are <br />present, such as cutting and welding, temporary heaters; °lights, <br />open flame, static electricity, etc. Additionally, the <br />accumulation of debris increases the likelihood of fire. <br />2 GENERAL REQ NTS - FIRE PROTECTION <br />The fire prevent -ion plan will be reviewed and site-specific <br />rules developed annually and/or whenever landfill <br />configurations and operations are significantly modified -..at <br />the Site. For projects/tasks with extraordinary hazards, <br />more detailed and specific programs and equipment will be <br />arranged. <br />A. The FireProtection Plan must include the following <br />essential considerations: <br />1. Proper site preparation. <br />2. Availability of private and public fire <br />protection. <br />3. Safe installation and protection of temporary <br />buildings and other structures. <br />4. Adequate job site fire protection. <br />5. Minimizing inherent construction fire hazards. <br />6. Installation of permanent safeguards as <br />construction progresses. <br />7. Safety orientation of employees. <br />B. Recommended practices and standards of the National <br />Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and other applicable <br />regulations shall be followed in the development and <br />0 application of Project Fire Protection Plans. <br />FP -1 <br />
