• Evaluation and documentation of laboratory and field testing of the in-place <br />moisture content and density of engineered fill materials in accordance with <br />the requirements of the Specifications (including retests, if necessary). <br />• Confirmation that the test results are in accordance with the Project <br />Specifications (including retests of any previously failed areas). <br />The operations to be monitored for geosynthetics typically include, but are not <br />necessarily limited to: <br />• Material delivery. <br />• Unloading and on-site transport and storage. <br />• Placement/deployment operations. <br />• Joining and/or seaming operations. <br />• Repair operations. <br />Specifically, the seaming operations to be monitored include: <br />• Trial seams. <br />• Seam preparation. <br />• Seaming. <br />• Nondestructive seam testing. <br />• Sampling for destructive seam testing. <br />• Laboratory test sample marking. <br />• Repair operations. <br />• Reviewing the final certification of seams. <br />In addition to these specific duties, the Geoteclinical`CQA Technicians sliall'be <br />responsible for: <br />• Observing the condition of geosynthetic materials as placed. <br />r„t Selecting samples wfar conformance testing -by the Independent TBstin-g <br />Laboratory. <br />• Marking samples for conformance testing. <br />• Notation of any on-site activities that could result in damage to the <br />geosynthetics. <br />All observations shall be reported in a timely manner to the Construction <br />Manager. <br />3.4 INDEPENDENT TESTING LABORATORY <br />The Independent Testing Laboratory shall perform all conformance testing of <br />geosynthetics and all destructive laboratory testing of field seams. The <br />Independent Testing Laboratory shall be experienced in the performance of all <br />conformance tests required by the CQA Plan and certified by the Geosynthetic <br />Accreditation Institute (GAI) for each test required for the project. <br />CA2001-048TINAL COVER CQA.DOC\08/20/01 <br />Geologic Associates <br />
