0 4.0 POST -CLOSURE MAINTENANCE l <br />Post -closure maintenance of the Forward Landfill Stage IA partial closure <br />area will be performed in accordance with applicable regulatory standards <br />included in 27 CCR, Chapters 3 and 4, and 40 CFR Section 258.61. Post - <br />closure maintenance activities for the Stage IA partial closure area of the <br />Forward Landfill will consist of: <br />• Final Cover Maintenance <br />• Drainage System Maintenance <br />• Vegetative Cover Maintenance <br />• French Drain Leachate Seep Collector Maintenance <br />• Bench Maintenance <br />• Landfill Settlement Monitoring and Monument Maintenance <br />The maintenance procedures for each of these activities are described in the <br />following sections. Please note that landfill gas monitoring and control <br />system maintenance, groundwater monitoring, and site security for those <br />facilities in the Stage IA partial closure area will be performed/maintained as <br />part of ongoing landfill operations. <br />4.2 FINAL COVER MAINTENANCE <br />The integrity and effectiveness of the final cover will be maintained by making <br />repairs, if necessary, to correct the effects of settlement, subsidence, erosion, <br />or damage to the vegetation. Areas that show evidence of damage will be <br />investigated to ascertain the cause of the damage before repairs are <br />undertaken. If the damaged areas have caused ponding of surface runoff, soil <br />will be added as needed and regraded until positive drainage is re-established. <br />If the repaired area is large enough, it will be revegetated.
