Consolidated Forward Inc. Landfill <br />Page 13 <br />Landfill operators will be trained to recognize and properly segregate and handle <br />hazardous waste. This will include a 24-hour hazardous waste materials <br />management training program that complies with 29 CFR, Section 1910. <br />34 (E.3) <br />Proposed as Part of the Project: <br />The Standard Safe Work Practices listed in the Forward, Inc. Site Health and Safety <br />Program and Contingency Plan will be implemented by the operator. <br />The landfill operator will comply with the provisions of CCR Title 27, Section 20590, <br />which requires that O&M personnel wear and use approved safety equipment for <br />personal heath and safety. <br />Landfill access will continue to be controlled to limit unauthorized entry by persons <br />or vehicles. <br />The landfill operator will comply with all provisions of CCR, Title 27, Division 2, <br />Chapter 3, Subchapter 4, Articles 1-3, "Disposal Site Operations' that apply to <br />landfill health and safety. <br />Identified in This EIR: <br />If future spills or accidents during waste transport indicate that changes should be <br />made to waste transport haul routes to the landfill from major arterials, SR 4 or <br />Highway 99, the San Joaquin County Public Works Department shall modify the <br />haul routes as appropriate. <br />35 (E.4) <br />Proposed as Part of the Project: <br />Where required by State and Federal regulations, the landfill gas monitoring, gas <br />control and collection system will be installed, extending to the new areas of the <br />expanding landfill and operating in conformance with applicable regulations. <br />The existing gas extraction system, or an equivalent system, will continue to operate. <br />Regular gas monitoring will be conducted to prevent explosive or toxic gas <br />accumulation in onsite buildings or beneath temporary buildings. The landfill <br />operator will install an automatic combustible gas detection and alarm system for <br />structures at the site. <br />The landfill operator will not construct or otherwise locate any structure in an area of <br />known landfill gas build-up. <br />All site personnel who work in permanent structures will be trained to use and <br />respond to the landfill gas monitoring and alarm system. <br />Identified in This EIR: <br />
