Actual leachate generation data compiled over a 12-year period from the Forward Landfill and
information from the Design Report for the existing leachate surface impoundment WMU F-North
entitled Waste Man cement Unit D-99 Class II Leachate Impoundment and Closure of Eastern Ash
Pit WMU Interim F Forward Inc. Landfill (CHzM Hill. 1999) report were used to perform
calculations to evaluate site leachate generation and storage volume requirements for the Austin Road
site within Forward Landfill.
After construction of the WMU F-West leachate surface impoundment, the site available leachate
storage capacity will be as follows:
Surface 3mgoiandent Basrn 2 foot`It'reell©ard TO
WMU F-North 3,478,200 gallons 785,400 gallons 4,263,600 gallons
WMU F-West 2,703,945 gallons 53 1,100 gallons 3,235,045 gallons
Total 6,182,145 gallons 1,316,500 gallons 7,498,645 gallons
If during the service life of the landfill, the demand on the leachate impoundments exceed capacity,
Forward, Inc. will implement an alternative leachage management plan. The leachate impoundments
are intended to serve as the primary mechanism for disposal of collected leachate. However, the
impoundments may be supplemented by other disposal methods during peak years of operation, if
necessary. Leachate in excess of WMU F-North and WMU F-West impoundment's capacity will
either be pumped to temporary on-site tanks or trucked for off-site disposal at the City of Stockton
Municipal Utility District waste water treatment plant located at 2500 North Nave Drive in Stockton.
Leachate stored in the temporary on-site tanks may be released back into the impoundment at a later
date.
Specifications for HDPE, GCL, slurry cement, coarse gravel, and geotextile and geocompostie
drainage layers are included in Appendix B. Quality Assurance testing of liner materials is outlined
in the CQA Manual (Appendix D). The CQA testing includes all normal testing for HDPE,
geotextile and HDPE material properties. Details of the leachate impoundment components are
shown on the Construction Drawings in Appendix A.
FORWARD LANDFILL WMU F-03 AND F-WEST DESIGN REPORT
5-6
