(GSE superintendent)in the early morning to discuss the geosynthetic clay liner(GCL)deployment schedule. After reviewing the plans, specifications and a site walk for measurements, we determined that the roll length of the GCL would not reach the length of the slope and would therefore require a horizontal slope seam on the five to one(5:1) slope. The job specifications state that there can be no horizontal seams and we would need the ok from the design engineer to proceed. A call was placed with the acting project engineer for Vector to inform the design engineer of the dilemma. Earthworks operations continued with the one(1) scraper hauling minor amounts of excess clay from the windrows generated by the blade that continued to finish cut the clay on the cell floor. The D6 dozer and 14G blade graded and widened the access road into the cell that will be used for general truck access. The backhoe and trencher completed excavating the anchor trench around the lechate pond. Sukut's surveyors were on site to shoot the lechate pond and north areas of the FU-03 cell. Review of the roll certifications of the sixteen ounce(16oz),twelve-ounce(12oz.) geotextile,eight-ounce (8oz) geotextile and the geonet continued when time permitted. A weekly meeting was held on site to discuss project progress and scheduling. Lochlin C. (Allied) stated that the GCL situation would be resolved by the project engineer and GSE and that liner deployment could not proceed until authorization was given by either the engineer or the Water Board.
